The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced two new "Requests for Applications (RFA)" that will fund scholarships and fellowships for nuclear science and engineering students.
Applications for Nuclear Energy University Program (NEUP) graduate fellowships and undergraduate scholarships are due February 16, 2011. Nuclear engineering students are highly encouraged to apply.
These awards are part of the NEUP's commitment to educate the next generation of nuclear scientists and engineers. Currently, the our department has two NEUP fellows and five students who received the $5,000 one-year scholarship for the current academic year.
The DOE expects to award $5 million for approximately 70 undergraduate scholarships and 30 graduate fellowships to U.S. students and permanent residents through its Nuclear Energy University Program.
Fellowships are $50,000/year over three years to assist with graduate studies and research.
Scholarship recipients receive $5,000 towards the cost of their education. They are eligible to apply for the scholarship in subsequent years.
