How to Set Up Exchange on Windows XP

Using Microsoft Outlook 2007 to access your @ne.tamu.edu email.

Is this the first time you've set up Outlook?

Yes, I have not used Outlook before. Start at step 1.

No, I have already configured Outlook for something else.
Start at step 2.



1. If this is the first time you've attempted to set up Outlook:

Click 'Start' and then 'E-mail', as below. Skip to step 6.

2. If you've set up accounts in Outlook before:

Click 'Start', right-click 'E-mail', and click 'Properties', as below.

3. Select 'E-mail Accounts...'.

4. Select the 'E-mail' tab. Click 'New...'.

5. Select 'Microsoft Exchange,..', click 'Next'.

6. At the 'Add New E-mail Account' screen select 'Manually configure server..' and click 'Next'.

7. Select 'Microsoft Exchange', and click 'Next'.

8. Enter 'exchange.ne.tamu.edu' for 'Microsoft Exchange server:', check 'Use Cached Exchange Mode',
enter your NE account name for 'User Name:', and click 'More Settings...'.

9. Click the 'Connection' tab, select 'Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP',
and click 'Exchange Proxy Settings...'.

10. Enter 'mulberry.ne.tamu.edu' for 'https://', select 'Only connect to proxy servers..', and enter 'msstd:mulberry.ne.tamu.edu',
check 'On fast networks..', and check 'On slow networks..'.
Select 'Basic Authentication', and click 'OK'.

11. Click 'OK' at the 'Microsoft Exchange' window.

11. Click 'Next' at the 'Add New E-mail Account' window.

12. If prompted about 'Mail Deliver Location', click 'OK'.

13. Click 'Finish'.
