Research Reactor Activities
The 1 MW TRIGA reactor is a flexible facility used by a variety of organizations
for education and research. Students and faculty have designed a low-enriched
uranium core to replace the current highly enriched uranium core. The new core
will provide pulse capability and will have a steady-state power of at least
2 MW.
New experimental facilities are under development to study the following
areas:
- Neutron-radiography imaging using digital techniques
- Cyclic neutron activation analysis
- Prompt capture-gamma neutron activation analysis
- Neutron scattering experiments for material property evaluations of metallic
and plastic materials
- Digital control research and development
